The Rye and District Country Show, held at Elm Tree Farm, Icklesham on Saturday August 13, enjoyed sunny weather and attracted large crowds who enjoyed a horse and dog show as well as a display of classic cars and live music. Other attractions included the popular Pimms tent. Dog classes included gundogs, pedigree dogs, obedience, fancy dress and more, while horse classes included cross pole jumping, condition and turnout, family horse/pony and working hunter.
Perdita Chamberlain, Head of Income Generation at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “Thanks to the committee, under the chairmanship of Jenny Yeo MBE, we saw another wonderful day for the Rye and District Country Show, which was held at Elm Tree Farm with the kind permission of Mr Kit McLean and Mr P Merricks. Over 50 horses took part in the Horse Show which included a charming Pony Fancy Dress. Dogs abounded on site for the dog show, ably organised by Rupert Farrant of Broad Oak Kennels. Stalls displayed the wealth of talent across East Sussex, from studio pottery to hand made fudge, from stunning jewellery to velvet jackets. The Hospice is delighted to have been the beneficiary again this year, with over £18,000 raised to date, and we would like to thank everyone who gave of their time and energies to make the show such a tremendous success”.
