Rye Harbour Sailing Club invites you and your family to enjoy a free experience of sailing on Sunday May 17 when the Club hosts anyone-welcome taster sessions as part of national RYA Push the Boat Out.

This is a nationwide event that will see hundreds of sailing clubs and centres across the country opening their gates for local people to come and ‘have a go’ at sailing and windsurfing.

Starting at 9.30 a.m. on May 17 at Rye Harbour Sailing Club, The Point, Rye Harbour TN31 7TU, there will be a host of activities taking place. Help get the boats ready before setting sail at around 10.30. From 10.00 a.m. look out for the demonstration on how to tie knots and splice rope – who knows, you could be tying a clove hitch by the end of the day! There will also be important information from the RNLI about ‘Sea Safety’. Finally, from 1.00 p.m. there will be a BBQ at the club house.

If you want to have a dinghy sail, you will need to book in advance by calling Charles Bronsdon on 01797 223560, mobile 07941 162943. If you would like to sail in a cruiser please call Richard Hopper on 01797 222291. Whether you are a dinghy or cruiser sailor, you will need to bring warm clothes and soft shoes with you – please ask what you need when making a booking. RHSC will supply life jackets, and refreshments, including food, will be available.

Rye Harbour Sailing Club’s Commodore says,” We are delighted to be taking part in the RYA Push the Boat Out and we are inviting the local community to come down to the club, have a go at sailing, see what the club has to offer and get involved. Who knows, if you visit you might just get hooked!”
