I would like to thank everyone who attended the recent Town Meeting to have their say on the evolving Rye Neighbourhood Plan. All the points raised at both the main meeting and the pre-meeting have been recorded and will be carefully considered when we redraft the Plan to produce version 11, the Plan Proposal.
The Plan began life in 2013 and has involved substantial local input in the form of responses to consultations and the work of the Steering Group, which comprises volunteers drawn from the community and Town Council.
Throughout the process drafts of the Plan and supporting documents have been placed in the public domain for consideration and comment. We will continue to do this via our web site, the press, social media, meetings and consultation events.
The Plan has inevitably involved some compromise between National and District demands and the wishes of the community. However, we do need to press on and finalise the Plan because, although having such a statutory document does not prevent development, it does allow us to influence where it takes place.
Once the Plan is formally approved it will mean also that we will be entitled to received 25% of any new development Community Infrastructure Levy receipts generated in Rye.
