It was a better week for Icklesham Casuals with the 1st team recording their fourth league win and the 2nd team picking up their first points of the season.

The 1st team defeated Hollington United II 4-2 at the Recreation Ground. The game started with the two sides playing some good football with both Liam Sayer and Charlie Cornford  going close, from a free-kick, for the home side, but it was Hollington who went ahead in the 25th minute when a bad pass along the Icklesham back line let in Danny Turner and he ran through to finish. The equaliser came less than a minute later when Dave Pugh won the ball and Kieran Dighton’s fine pass was neatly turned into the net by Sayer. The remainder of the first half was fairly even and the teams went in level at the break.

The Casuals started the second period better and took the lead at 58 minutes when Cornford’s through ball was again finished by Sayer. Icklesham thought they had given themselves some breathing space in the 70th minute when a 40-yard free-kick from Shane Fox found its way into the net to make it 3-1 and record his first goal for the club, only for Hollington to hit back just two minutes later when Turner scored his second goal of the game.

The points were made safe on 81 minutes when Sayer completed his hat-trick with an excellent turn and shot after being set up by Steffan Davies.

The 2nd team picked up their first points with a fine 2-0 victory in a physical encounter away to 3rd placed Cranbrook Town. The match remained scoreless going in to the final quarter of an hour when Jon Fitton scored direct from a free-kick 40 yards out and five minutes from time Chris Osunsami converted the second from the penalty spot.
