It’s that time of year again! The Beckley 10k is a popular event in the local autumn running calendar and returns for its 14th year on Sunday November 4 2018.
A true community race organised jointly by local race management company Nice Work raising money for the Beckley Village Centre, with fantastic marshals and free beer and cake, what more could you ask for?!
Martin Burke, Nice Work Founder and Race Director said, “The Beckley 10k is a race very close to our hearts as this is where it all began, Nice Work’s very first race 14 years ago”.
Starting and finishing at the Beckley Village Centre, this popular but challenging rural run uses the lanes around this pretty East Sussex village which is hilly in parts, although the home stretch is straight and largely downhill-ish, so a fast finish is guaranteed. Runners of all standards welcome and there are medals, free beer and homemade cakes available for all finishers. A 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk, will be taking place alongside the main 10K race at 11am, and also a short Children’s Race, will be taking place at 10:45am. Entries for both races are available on the day of the race. It makes for a fantastic family morning event. This year the race is generously sponsored by M & S Electrical.
One of last year’s novice runners said, “Talked into this by my brother who is a seasoned runner, so he, me, my other brother and both their wives all did the race. Great atmosphere, very well organised, beer and cake brilliant, scenery wonderful, marshals cheery and times up on the board immediately. Since then I have done another 10k a 10 mile and signed up for a marathon in October! You’ve got a lot to answer for Bruv!”.
