At last Encompass Care has its minibus and one of the members, Tracy Martin (extreme right, above) was inspired to name it the Green Goddess. After much searching and fund raising, the minibus was finally bought, delivered from Sheffield and christened with a glass of bubbly and much laughter last Friday, March 22. The first outing for lunch has already been booked for April 5.
Everyone at Encompass Care would like to thank the following people for their generous and unfailing support over the past 10 months, without their donations and help, the Green Goddess would still have remained a dream for the future: Councillor Mike Boyd, Mayor of Rye, Councillor Cheryl Creaser, Councillor Ian Potter, Gill and Jim Wood, Woodroffe Benton, Judith and Martin Blincow from the Mermaid Inn, Rye, Andy McConnell, Rye Community Shop, The Quakers, Rye Allotments Society, Gina Williams, Rye Bonfire Society, Derek Bayntun, Hastings Lions.
The new vehicle will enable Encompass Care to take all its members out and about, and put into practice its ethos, which is to assist disabled people to get out into the wider community so that they can enjoy outings, meals out, visiting garden centres, museums, shows and anything else that they would like to do. Having a vehicle with a wheelchair lift and which can take four wheelchairs will make this possible.
Encompass Care, Rye, CIC, meet at Tilling Green Community Centre, Rye every Thursday and Friday from 10am till 4pm and are looking for more volunteers, so if you have some time to spare, call in and see them.
