Andi Rivett, Independent Rye Town Councillor since 2015, is a Master Shipwright and owner of Rock Channel Marine moorings and boat repairs. He has used his craft skills in wood and metalwork, mechanics and engineering, to help repair and restore facilities in the town, such as benches and the skate park. Andi has been the Town Council representative for HoRAC (Harbour of Rye Advisory Committee), sharing information and best practice about the port of Rye and all things that affect our maritime interests. He is also the Town Council representative for Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.
Andi is chairman of the Rye Festival of the Sea, bringing back the raft race to the town. Andi also supports the Christmas Festival, Bonfire Society, and Ferry Road Nursery, having recently made and donated an outdoor play pirate boat. Andi is also honoured to have taken over responsibility for maintaining the bells of St Mary’s church.
An active member of the Town Council, Andi has attended every Remembrance Day and St George’s Day service, and this year acted as consort to the Deputy Mayor, representing Rye at events in our fellow Cinque Ports. He sings with both the Hastings RX Shantymen and Rye Bay Crew.
He looks forward to continuing to support the people of Rye and being a hands-on member of the town and it’s council.
