A relay race event will be held at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve this Friday, May 31. It is being organised by Nice Work who also organised the Peasmarsh 10 mile run last weekend, as reported in today’s Rye News.

This a charity race in partnership with The Sussex Wildlife Trust to help raise funds for the construction of the new Discovery Centre within the Nature Reserve. Further details can be found here. Ekiden is a long-distance, multistage relay race, based on a traditional Japanese concept – the word ‘Ekiden’ originally referred to a post-horse or stagecoach which transmitted communications in stages.

This relay is a team event, each member of the team runs a variety of distances to complete a half marathon in total. There are six stages in the following order 5k, 2.5k, 7.5k, 2.5k, 2.5k, 1k. This event is not just a test of speed but also tactics. Can you get the combination right and clinch the title?
