No pavement for pedestrians

With reference to Tony Nunn’s letter “Absence of road sense”: I am afraid what he criticises as a pavement up Ferry Hill at  Winchelsea is not, in fact, a pavement. It is the base of the crash barrier. There is no pavement up that road.  In fact, there is no safe pedestrian exit from Winchelsea anywhere on the Rye side. You either have to walk on the A259 or cross it.
