Mermaid saves drowning boar

When Rye News started back in 2014, Wild Boar Week was in its fourth year, but it looked as though wild boar had vanished off the culinary map for the autumn half term week in 2019 – though Scallop Week next spring may be OK.

Organiser Oliver Campion said there had not been enough support from business (mainly pubs, hotels and restaurants) to cover the publicity costs so it could not go ahead.

But mystery posters suddenly appeared on high street lamp-posts and in windows this week advertising a “Wild Boar” event presented by Timberlina and Dr Aspalls at The Mermaid.

The event this Friday October 25 is a wild boar supper and cabaret and for booking and more information please contact 01797 223065.

Timberlina and Dr Aspalls recently featured at the Queen’s Head but have also been making appearances in London.
