In amongst the notices displayed in Rye station, and noticed while sheltering from the November rain earlier today (November 1) was a brightly coloured A4 poster which stood out from the usual selection of advertising posters. It had a strong message, the message was clear, someone is missing.

That someone is a gentleman called Andrew Wren, a 53 year old who has been missing since late September this year. Andrew is from the Lewisham area where he was last seen, captured on CCTV at Bellingham railway station in South East London.

The Met police have confirmed he bought a single ticket to Rye on September 28 but hasn’t been seen since. The police have serious concerns for his welfare as he has never done anything like this before, and it appears he has no known links to Rye or the surrounding areas.

He could well have been in the Rye area around 3pm on September 28 and was possibly wearing a bottle green coloured coat.

This afternoon the police advised that the man whose body had been found in a ditch along Winchelsea New Road was a 53 year old man from London.  Rye News has not been informed of any formal identification as yet and if any readers have any knowledge that could assist the police, please pass this on to Lewisham Police by dialing 101 and quoting reference 19MIS038887

Alternatively you can contact  missing people direct by calling or texting 116000, a free and confidential 24hr service.

Readers may recall Rye News ran a story on another missing person earlier this year, Marion Barter, which generated a great deal of interest and some leads which were passed on to her relatives.
