The museum at East Street recently held two popular events. The first was a children’s craft afternoon held during half term on Wednesday, October 30. A group of well behaved children enjoyed making Halloween lanterns out of recycled jam jars, orange tissue paper and suitable ghoulish black cut outs. They also had a chance to make a seaside in a jar with seaside drawings, sand and shells.

It was nice to see families who were on holiday in the area come along and visit the museum and take part in the crafts. As the doors to East Street were open other visitors also took the chance to visit the museum.

East Street Museum is now closed for the winter period, but it does host the monthly talks – and the next talk is on Thursday, November 14 “Sissinghurst Castle Gardens” by Alexis Datta who was the Head Gardener from 2005 until her retirement.

On Saturday, November 2 East Street Museum hosted a lunch for all the museum volunteers. A ploughman’s lunch and refreshments was greatly enjoyed by all who attended the afternoon.

Unfortunately due to the inclement weather several volunteers were unable to attend but the group of about 35 enjoyed the lunch provided by the museum’ s catering team. Thanks go to all.

Do check the museum’s website for further events or follow on social media.
