Hastings International Piano are pleased to welcome internationally acclaimed singer, pianist and songwriter Joe Stilgoe and his band to St Mary in the Castle on Sunday  December 15 for an afternoon of Christmas songs and music for all ages and tastes.
Following a successful fundraising event with Lucy Parham, Lesley Sharp and Sir Simon Russell Beale last month, Hastings International Piano are continuing to fundraise for the Concerto Competition and Festival and their expanding programme of educational engagements for local young people.
This November Joe released his 2019 Christmas album, featuring Grammy nominated saxophonist Amy Dickson, the Canterbury Cathedral Girls Choir, iconic jazz musician Ben Castle (son of Roy Castle) and legendary comedian and actor Rob Brydon.
Joe’s Christmas album

Joe has created a fresh sound for jazz in the 21st century, known for writing songs that feel like they’ve been around for years, and adapting classics that sound as though they were just written. As a recording artist he has released 5 critically lauded albums, three of which have topped the UK Jazz chart.

His latest album, launched in June 2019, is a new departure of style and genre. THE HEAT IS ON! is Joe’s unique interpretation of the soundtrack from the 1980’s, re-imagined with a full 1950s Big Band.

Son of songwriter and TV personality Richard Stilgoe and opera singer Annabel Hunt, Joe has become a true modern-day entertainer, known globally as a performer of wit, style and a level of musicianship which has seen him recognised as one of the best singer-pianists in the world.
Regular star of BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night and his own shows as presenter and performer, Joe has worked with some of the finest orchestras and bands in the world and regularly appears at renowned jazz club Ronnie Scott’s.
Joe has been hosting Christmas specials at the Lyric Hammersmith with celebrity guests and musicians for many years and his Radio 2 show ‘Joe Stilgoe – Christmas At The Movies’ was the most popular show aired on Christmas Day 2018.
On Sunday, December 15, at 3pm, tickets available online or from Hastings Tourist Information Centre
