Ill health is the reason behind the recent closure of a Rye business as after 14 years, the Hot Wok Express on Cinque Ports Street has shut down and a typed message from the owners, taped to the inside of the door, thanks its customers for their support and loyalty over the years.
Time will tell as to what business will replace it but in the meantime it is all change along Cinque Ports Street.
In nearby Wish Street, the premises which was formally Rectory Interiors has been acquired by award winning chef, Kyle Tatner and following a comprehensive programme of refurbishment will open as Tatner’s Street Foods, a restaurant to complement his existing business, Tatner’s Catering & Events which strives to provide delicious, high quality food available at a fraction of the cost of restaurant dining.
Rye News will be following the progress of the new restaurant and will publish an update in due course but Tatner’s currently caters for any event from small private gathering, to corporate functions, parties, pop ups, festivals and weddings and with a street food outlet at Broomhill Sands in Camber, open throughout the year.

Wishing Kyle all the very best with his new venture! – I have sampled his lovely food in Olde World Wines and we are in for a treat! I popped in today and the building is really taking shape (a trip down memory lane as used to go to the Old Forge when it was open years ago!) Looking forward to eating there again!
