Rother District Council has published a public notice announcing that Rye Cricket Club wants to buy a tiny bit of the Middle Salts in Rye in order to improve access to the pavilion and create a wheelchair accessible ramp.

The land, about 12.45 square metres in area, is on the river side of the pavilion and any objections to the sale need to be made to Rother District Council at Bexhill Town Hall by March 13.

  1. For clarity…..Rother District Council have advertised the disposal of a public space. This “disposal” is the addition of the aforementioned land space to be placed on the 99 year Lease, Rye Cricket Club has from Rother. There will be no cost.

This legal amendment means that Rye Cricket Club can now go ahead and build a disabled ramp to the Disabled toilet, and provide permanent steps into the pavilion, to facilitate greater access. Thus the pavilion will meet Building Regulations.
