Traffic on the A259 was disrupted on Wednesday, March 4 by level crossing problems on the outskirts of Rye, and trains through Rye were disrupted last month by level crossing problems near the station caused by the high winds.
EXHIBITION AND SALE
An exhibition and sale of watercolours, oil paintings, silkscreen and lino cut prints features at the Red Door Alchemist Gallery in Cinque Ports Street in Rye until March 16 from 11am to 5pm daily, except for Tuesday, March 10 when the gallery is closed.
POST OFFICE REOPENS
Camber Post Office reopens at 1pm on Tuesday, March 17 at its previous location in New Lydd Road. The opening hours will be Monday – Friday 9am to 5:30pm, Saturday 9am to 12:30pm
COMMUNITY ASSET ON OFFER
Rother District Council (RDC) has advertised the Smuggler Public House on Pett Level Road as a listed asset of community value which the owner wishes to dispose of, and community groups have until 30 March to indicate to RDC planning whether they wish to be treated as a potential bidder.
FARM RE-INSTATED
Hoads Farm near Rye has had its RSPCA membership reinstated after complaints about animal welfare. Officials from the DEFRA and the RSPCA have both inspected the farm, and there will be follow-up visits, but egg collections have now resumed.
TOOLS STOLEN
After a Camber handyman, Paul Harwood, had all his tools stolen from his van while he was on a training course, a fund has been set up to help him at www.gofundme.com/f/help-paul-replace-his-stolen-tools.
