Sorting out our wardrobes, going through our clothes and general de-cluttering are tasks many of us have been doing during lockdown, there’s no excuse to leave them for another day, now is the time to thin things out.
All well and good, but with the charity shops closed until further notice, and as the door to door collections of unwanted clothing seem to have come to a temporary end, where do you take your old clothes and shoes? Putting them in the bin and sending them to landfill is sacrilege but many may not know that in Rye, next to the fire station off Ferry Road, there is a big yellow recycling ‘bin’ where you can take your unwanted items.
Money generated from all donations received goes to support the fire fighters charity. At a time when more cuts are being mooted they need all the support we can give them, not only in clothing donations, but help in fighting the proposed cuts to their service which could effect us all in the near future.

Re the yellow bin. What a good idea and when I took two bags of clothes many people had responded as it was full. Am glad in picture it has been emptied. We should all do our bit to help if and where possible
