Undercliff paddock rescued

The problem with a locked gate preventing access to a paddock containing Donny the donkey with some rescued ponies has been resolved.

And paddock owner Sharon Baker is relieved and happy to confirm that she now has agreed access to the field in West Undercliff in Rye via the path next to the Southern Water road.

Sharon has told us that protracted and difficult negotiations within Rother District Council achieved a successful outcome due the assistance of Councillor Gennette Stevens.

This means the future of Donny and his friends is secure, and Sharon is now free to improve the paddock in ways she has had planned, such as new stables, now that building materials can be properly transported to the site.

Sharon plans to smarten up the site generally and repair and replace existing structures where needed.

Sharon says Undercliff Pony Rescue will go from strength to strength. Sharon intends to hold an open day so that friends and supporters can meet Donny and friends properly rather than by leaning over the fence or gate.

The priority for Undercliff Pony Rescue is solely the care and well being of the rescued animals and Sharon emphasizes that every penny donated for support directly benefits the ponies.

Sharon warmly expresses her appreciation and gratitude for the support she has received from readers of Rye News and says a big thank you.  If you would like to contribute to the work of Undercliff Pony Rescue you can donate here.
