Seventeen cars completed the 60-mile Annings Race and Restoration Mini Cooper Run last Sunday, August 30. The event was organised by Phil Annings, the owner of Annings Garage, Hamstreet, and a self-confessed classic car fanatic. Starting outside the garage in Hamstreet, the run took in a route around Romney Marsh before heading towards Lyminge, Hawkinge and parts of the North Downs.
Cars and drivers came from all over Kent and Sussex, and included Robert Young, chairman of the Mini Cooper Register, the international club for Mini owners and enthusiasts who said: “Of all the different regions, the Kent region is by far the largest, with over 100 members.”
The day’s fun run concluded at Bilsington Priory where drivers and their support crews enjoyed an afternoon tea, socially distanced, of course, while enthusiasts took an opportunity to inspect these classic vehicles at close quarters.
