Did you realise that nearly a third of families in Sussex are living in poverty in 2020? A sobering thought isn’t it, and the added effects of Covid-19 has made many people’s situation even worse.

Westfield Parish Council have taken up the initiative and want to make a difference so they are currently working with Westfield Church and Rye Mutual Aid to give much needed support to families at Christmas this year.

Here’s your chance to help as they need any good quality children’s toys and books which will be given out as gifts to families via local groups, charities and volunteers. And lockdown may have given you the opportunity to tidy up or empty the loft, re-organise the kids’ bedrooms, and get all your unwanted ‘stuff’ together to give to charity.

Toys and books may now lie unwanted in your home, but do not send them to landfill unless they are broken and of poor quality as they could make a real difference to somebody this Christmas and are very welcomed.

Please bring your donations to 7 Fair Meadow, Rye, TN31 7NL where you can leave them on the shelves in the porch and, if you have a lot of items that need collecting, please contact Westfield Parish Council on 01424 575266 and leave a message. Collections can be taken up to noon on the Sunday, December 13.
