To celebrate the launch of the Rye Society of Artists’ (RSA) new website, Rye News continues to profile one of their artists each week – including links to their website and social media accounts so you can keep up-to-date on their activities.

Fingers crossed that lockdown will be lifted by March and you can view some of the RSA member’s work at their spring exhibition, entitled “There will be Growth in Spring”, at Rye Art Gallery from March 20 – May 1 2021. In addition, the RSA will be hosting its 70th Anniversary Summer Show later in 2021.

This week, the artist in focus is Val Falla.

Val Falla trained as an illustrator at the Royal College of Art under the tutelage of John Nash and Edward Bawden. Bawden has had a lasting influence on her work. Throughout her career she has worked as an illustrator for many esteemed publishing houses including Faber & Faber. Now living on the coast her work observes the richness, humour and satire of seaside imagery encompassing childhood memory and fantastical ideas.

You can see more of Val’s work on her website val-bob-falla.org and also on the RSA website.
