Blooming marvellous!

Lambs are everywhere, the seagulls are sitting on their eggs, bright yellow fields of rape are in full bloom, and so too are the acres of blossoming apple trees. Our bluebell woods are an absolute picture, hedgerows are thickening with new growth – home to numerous wild birds nesting, daffodils have been replaced with primroses, the temperature is rising, and the sun is making a more regular appearance – in short, spring has well and truly sprung.

Town Hall Cottage

There are flowers appearing around the town including a lovely display outside the Rye Retreat and Town Hall Cottage

Town Hall Cottage was looking very colourful and during the course of next week you will see hanging baskets appearing all over town as part of the Rye Chamber of Commerce’s Rye Blooms initiative – just what’s needed to not only add some much needed colour but also to help lift our spirits.

Rye Retreat entering into the spirit  0f it all

Rye Chamber of Commerce have also donated sunflower seeds to the children at Rye College and as the photos (above) show, they have enjoyed planting and nurturing the seeds and can’t wait to see how high they grow. It’s lovely they are involved and that they have a gardening club and forest school. They have also been lucky enough to receive some tree saplings from the Woodland Trust which have been planted to provide more outdoor shaded areas. This time spent outside in their allotment gives the children a love of the outdoors whilst at the same time boosts their confidence and wellbeing.

All the children featured in the images have given photo consent, updates are available on the college website and on their Facebook page, courtesy of Amy Biddle, Communications Officer for Rye College and Rye Community Primary School.
