The clubhouse at Rye Harbour Holiday Park was buzzing on the morning of Sunday, August 29, with a cake sale and beverages, a raffle, tombola stall, bric-a-brac and children’s colourful painted pebbles raising funds for Macmillan Cancer.
The dreadful ‘c’ word touches most families in the course of their lives and brings with it heartache, pain and worry. Macmillan nurses reach out to families and individuals and give wonderful comfort to all.
Lynn Sparks and Bernie Power were in the forefront of the organisation of the event and were helped by a great team including their supportive husbands, Ray and Graham. This meant that the coffee morning was a brilliant success raising £1,539.50 so far with a special mention to the children who painted pebbles as they raised a staggering £278.55. Congratulations are due to all who organised it, helped, baked cakes, sold raffle tickets and manned the stalls as well as a big thank you to those who came and supported, spent money and donated. It brought the community together.
Lynn and Bernie were thrilled at the response and said, “It was great to see so many people at the event and supporting this great cause. People from the holiday park, the village and visiting dog walkers all got involved. That’s what we want to do, involve the local community and fight cancer together. So watch this space for details of next year when we hope to be bigger and better and raise even more funds.”
Ryley Warwick – Rye Harbour Holiday Park complex manager said after the event: “This year’s Macmillan coffee morning is an event very close to the hearts of our staff and owners. My team did a fantastic job and working very hard alongside owners Lynn, Bernie and their families we managed to raise this fantastic grand total, not forgetting the children on the park painting and selling pebbles for over two hundred pounds. We’re looking forward to doing this event again to raise even more for this great cause and to other exciting events that will take place next season.”
