Back to school

This week sees the return of pupils to Rye College, and although totally normal service is yet to resume, the college is able to take some steps back to normality while always remaining within government guidelines for Covid prevention.

The formal first day of term is Thursday, September 2 and remote learning for any students for whom this is required will begin then. Everyone else will have their return spread over Friday, September 3 and the following Monday in order to allow all the children to be offered lateral flow tests. They will continue to test twice a week at home for at least the rest of the month while an assessment on the need for future testing is made.

Breakfast Club is back, too

The students will be pleased to hear that it will no longer be a requirement that masks are worn either in class or other areas of the school; the current advice, however, is to continue to wear them if traveling to and from school on public transport.

It is, of course, entirely probable that there will be cases of Covid-19 during the term and in which case anyone testing positive will be required to stay home and isolate for 10 days. Remote learning, however, will be available so that no one loses out on teaching time more than is absolutely unavoidable.

For those who remain concerned, a detailed risk assessment and further information on all precautions being taken is available on the Rye College website.
