In the middle of this article is a selection of photographs, taken and submitted to Rye News by regular contributor Geoffrey Austen with the accompanying quotation “Travelling the A259 past Winchelsea this morning was a sheer delight. The sky was blue and the road is lined with bright yellow daffodils. A fabulous display from Monks’ Walk through to Station Road. So much blue and yellow bringing hope. Nature is showing its support for the people of Ukraine! “

Thank you Geoffrey for taking the trouble to send us your selection of photographs, they do make you think don’t they?

Seana Lanigan also captured some lovely images around Rye, displaying support and solidarity for the people of Ukraine including the lead photograph of a beautiful display in the window of Café des Fleurs at 5a Market Road. Below, is a shot of a very subtle floral display in Concepts at 8 Market Street and the final image is of another very subtle and thought provoking display at Present Company at 22 Lion Street in the town.

Please continue to send us images which you would like us to share with our readers, they matter, they invariably brighten our days and we would be delighted to publish them for you, it’s what keeps Rye News interesting and alive.

  1. As you say Nick it certainly makes you think for a moment about those who are affected by this dreadful war (and other wars too) whilst we go about our lives safely in a most beautiful place!
