At tea time yesterday Rye 1sts were facing a mountain to climb. Seaford had posted 321-6 in 45 overs. We will not disclose the bowling figures at this time to protect the identities of those concerned!

Within 41.1 overs the mountain had been conquered as Rye replied with 323-5. A slow start but Harry Smeed 74 off 65 balls and Jackson Woodcock 34 started the momentum, but then Luke Payton 100 not out off 50 balls and Carl T Mumba 60 off 30 balls completed the victory.

This Saturday Rye 1sts welcome Preston Nomads 2nds to The Salts in a match sponsored by My Sweet Old Etcetera. They will field an unchanged team.

Rye 2nds slipped to defeat. They bowled poorly and fielded the majority of the 40 overs with ten fielders due to an injury, as Newhaven hit 238-4. Only Martin Blincow with 1-24 off 8 overs was able to exert any control. In reply Rye were led by a fine innings of 82 by Ellis Hatter and knocks of 29 by William Wheeler and Kyle Scott. Rye finished on 177-8.

This Saturday the seconds travel to play Bells Yew Green 2nds.
