Last month RX Architects from Rye received the top award from  the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in the southeast for their project ‘Seabreeze’. The regional jury chair Adam Richards said that the buildings in this category demonstrated high standards of conservation, innovation and the understanding of the nature of place.

Seabreeze, award winning architecture by Derek Rankin and Rob Pollard of RX Architects in Rye.

RX studio is led by Derek Rankin RIBA and Rob Pollard RIBA who have delivered multiple RIBA award winning projects in the south-east. They decided to name the practice ‘RX’ referencing the Rye and Hastings marine code, as they wanted to have a strong connection to the geographical area they work in. Many of their projects are close to Rye, and they love working with the incredible locations they have on their doorstep, with nature reserves, beaches, countryside and a beautiful town all making for exciting project locations.

Rob and Derek have collaborated for many years on a wide variety of projects, with the shared core principles of sustainable design, exploring a response to site context and maximising the possibilities from a client brief. This shared drive and focus has helped them to deliver many unique and inspiring schemes.
