It has been another busy and exciting week of Junior Cricket at Rye.

On Thursday, June 16,  the Under 13s lost by 12 runs to Mersham despite 30 retired by Freddie Furnival and Ollie Balcomb and 3-8 from Oscar Wincott-Stone, as they chased the 138 runs posted.

On Monday, the Under 11 B team maintained their unbeaten record, as they beat Ashford by 40 runs. Freddie Furnival 31 and Bertie Furnival 12 were the key to victory with the bat, as all the players bowled well.

On Tuesday, the Under 15s narrowly lost by 3 runs to Folkestone. Chasing 143-5, Rye just fell short despite 43 from Harry Putland, 29 from Sam Channon, and 24 from Joseph Kemsley.

Next week, the Under 11As host Folkestone, the Under 15s host Tenterden on Tuesday and the Under 13s travel to Wye on Thursday.

The Club is offering further opportunities this Summer to get involved as the number of Juniors now exceeds 80 participants.

Future Cricket Opportunities:

1. We will be offering 3 more Friday Evenings of All Stars Cricket and Cricket Dynamos – July 15 / 22 / 29. The Cost will be £12 for the 3 Sessions.

We are running two Cricket Camps on the Rye Cricket Salts during the Summer Holiday

2. Hard Ball Camps – August 1 and 2, 10am -3pm Cost: £30 per day or £50 for both days.

The details of the Hard Ball Camps are:

• 10am – 3pm on The Rye Cricket Salts
• For Colts between School Years 5 – 13.
• A coaching programme of batting / bowling / fielding skills
• Opportunities to play games to develop match skills
• Coaching by fully qualified ECB Coaches – the Course will be led by Russell Wyatt an ECB Level 3 Coach
• There will be a range of coaching aids provided including a Bowling Machine

Colts should bring a packed lunch, which will be taken for 30 minutes. They will not be allowed to leave the Salts unless they have written permission. We would like Colts to wear whites / Rye Top for the 2 days, but please ensure that they have jumpers or tracksuit tops to wear to protect against the weather.

3. Soft Ball Camp – August 3 and 4, 10am – 1pm Cost: £15 per Day or £25 for both days
