It’s your station

Cinque Ports Radio station is just that, your station. It started during lockdown, February 25, 2021 and has gone on from strength to strength. There has been amazing feedback on social media. It advertises itself as “Music you grew up with” and everyone likes a bit of nostalgia, don’t they?

People can get in touch with the station to advertise events they are running or what they are up to and have airtime. It is all about people in the area.

James Morrison from the radio station told me: “We discovered during lockdown, like many people, that things could be done at home which had previously only happened in studios or business suites. What started as a bit of an experiment has turned into my full time 100% job and I love the buzz of it. We started online just over a year ago. We started to build up a loyal audience and in March of this year we took over the FM licence for this area. We like to keep things light and chatty on Cinque Ports Radio; I always think of my listeners as friends that I’m just having a chat with over a cup of coffee.

“Rye and the Romney Marsh is an amazing area that is often ignored by other media. We have an amazing live music scene, history around every corner and we are a great place to come and visit. But what really makes this place special for me is the people that live here. Radio is such a personal thing to so many people: we speak them when they are in bed, at home, eating or driving. Over the last few years people have rediscovered radio as a way for the world to come to them. Radio also became a voice that helped many people cope with the isolation of lockdown.

“You can listen to us online via our website at www.cinqueportsradio.co.uk, on your smart speaker and on 100.2FM across Rye and the Romney Marsh. We will be out and about all over the summer and we would love to meet you all. We are always on the lookout for new people so if you would like to get involved, please email us on: info@cinqueportsradio.co.uk  It’s your radio station.”
