This interesting letter from Peter Hodgson was submitted this week. Do any other readers have pictorial memories they may like to share with Rye News?
I scored this original February 4, 1954 all intact edition of Country Life Magazine a few days ago.
As you can see, the front cover features Hog Hill Mill now the home recording studio of Sir Paul McCartney. I recognised what it was and its location immediately upon seeing it up for bidding on eBay.
What a find! As a near neighbour of Hog Hill Mill, I have been living here since 1978. I had a superb view of the Mill then and for many decades – until the trees grew taller and it is now a rare delight to catch a glimpse of it. The same applies to our view of the sea and the passing shipping – all now invisible due to the growth of the trees – but we are not complaining!
Trees are more important than our view. So seeing this great cover of “Country Life” brought back happy memories. Thank you!
