Last Saturday’s pre-season fixture against Cowdray fell foul of the monsoon. There is hope for this coming Saturday, when Rye host Kent League side Tenterden to the Rye Cricket Salts, where the newly sponsored Diamond Koz pavilion is now ready for the season.

Rye Cricket Club is grateful for the support from Diamond Koz which forms part of a revamped sponsorship drive this winter by the club. The committee set a target of seven thousand pounds in sponsorship. The context for the target is that that is the running costs per annum of the Diamond Koz pavilion. We are pleased to report we are nearly at that target and each week we will feature each of of fantastic supporters.

The club is nearly ready for the season, with the signing-on night on Friday, April 28 at 7pm at the Diamond Koz pavilion, where juniors can sign up for softball sessions starting on Friday, May 12 or hardball sessions starting on Wednesday, May 3, at 6pm-8pm or join our newly formed girls’ section with sessions starting Tuesday May 2, at 6pm.

We look forward to welcoming new and old players and spectators to enjoy the 270th season of cricket in Rye.
