Rye News has previously reported complaints by Winchelsea residents about what they see as the poor standard of work of the County Council’s grass-cutting contractors. These complaints have been renewed following the latest round of grass cutting, writes Richard Comotto. The focus is a verge in the very centre of Winchelsea, where contractors have neglected to strim around a lamp post, which now stands in a fountain of long grass. This is despite the contractors only using strimmers, a tool designed for grass cutting around such objects as lamp posts. East Sussex County Council have been asked to comment, but have not to date.
