The RNLI set a challenge to all the crew at its 238 stations for people to walk a mile a day to raise money during the month of May. A mile every day in May is quite an achievement but many, many people took up the challenge and raised a great deal of money.
Tia May Bolton, one of the crew at RNLI Rye Harbour, and her Aunty Elaine Robus completed the Mayday mile challenge. They walked an amazing 180.5 miles between them, raising £200 and coming twenty-fifth out of 254 teams. This is an amazing achievement between just two people. Thank you for your efforts from all at RNLI Rye Harbour.
All this hard work will make a life-saving difference. These walkers are helping to give RNLI volunteers everything they need to launch lifeboats so that rescues can be made; because of them, crews will be ready when desperate calls for help come this summer.
