Beware crowds

Rye Jazz and Blues Festival kicked off on Thursday, August 24 with free concerts at the Old Bell, the Grapevine and the Ship Inn and continues through the weekend until Monday night, August 28.

The main afternoon and evening ticketed concerts are in St Mary’s Church at the top of the town behind the town hall with some in the community centre on Conduit Hill.

And more than 15 free concerts will take place on the Kino outdoor stage (in front of the cinema and next door to the town hall) from Saturday lunchtime through to Monday night. Festival programmes can be found at various venues around the town.

Pedestrian and traffic chaos in the town hall / St Mary’s area may be predictable over the long weekend, as has been experienced in previous years, and there may be traffic restrictions if you are not resident in the oldest parts of the town.
