I have been watching a local Japanese maple tree live up to its reputation as one of the most popular species of woody plant. The Acer palmatum (to use its proper name) is native to Japan, Korea, China and southeast Russia and grown worldwide for its leaf shapes and spectacular colours.
The main photo shows a local Japanese maple tree in full leaf having turned from green to brown then a spectacular bright red. It looked sad and bereft when the leaves fell but in its wake, left a red carpet like no other and one which any ‘celeb’ would be proud to be seen on.
Looking at the two photos of the leaves on the ground, I can’t help thinking that if these were printed and made into jigsaws, how many hours might it take to complete them?
It’s amazing what you see around the countryside when you look hard enough and I felt these photos were worth sharing. I haven’t started talking to the trees yet but I may consider turning over a new leaf soon.
