Emma Kirwin has been inspired by the RNLI and is taking part in a challenge to run between twenty-eight lifeboat stations in the south-east, raising thousands of pounds for the charity that saves lives at sea. She is a busy working businesswoman and mum.
Emma, who comes from Worthing, began her ambitious challenge at Teddington RNLI on August 18 2023 and plans to complete her final leg to the RNLI college in Poole, Dorset. She will have run a distance of more than four hundred miles once her challenge is over. It will not stop there: after finishing running around the coast, she will run the 2024 London Marathon for the RNLI in April.
Emma has lived by the sea for sixteen years and with family she often visited her local RNLI station in Littlehampton. Every time they went they were inspired by the crew’s commitment, dedication and kindness.
Emma visited RNLI Rye Harbour on Sunday January 28 and was given a warm welcome. The crew had just finished their assessments with Ron Thrall, Lifeboat Trainer and Assessor (LTA) at Littlestone, passing twenty modules. Paul Bolton, Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM) at Rye Harbour said: “It was great to be able to welcome Emma to our station. We are proud to support all the wonderful fundraisers who give so much time to raise funds to keep our crews able continue to Save Lives at Sea.”
