This winter Rye Cricket Club has been talking to the local business community to find ways for mutual support. Rye Cricket Club would like to express their sincere appreciation for the manner in which local businesses have offered to help.

Over the next few weeks Rye Cricket Club will be sharing a number of these good news stories, as one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world seeks to secure the future of the game in the town with the ending of the grounds maintenance contract by Rother District Council.

The first featured local business is Bournes Moves who are the sponsor of the Rye cricket week from August 4-9 when Rye play four adult fixtures, including an all day game on August 6th v Presidents Xl, and a junior cricket camp on August 8-9 with junior presentation evening on August 9.

Bournes Moves managing director, Wesley Bourne, is delighted to be supporting Rye Cricket Club this year. “Just like Bournes the club has a real ‘family feel’ to it – with some families playing cricket down at the Salts for many generations and welcoming new members to the cricket family over the years as the club has grown and thrived. Keeping active is so important for a healthy mind and body, and doing it in a fun, community- spirited way through events like cricket week is the perfect way to encourage young people (and not so young people!) to join in, so we’re really pleased our sponsorship can help make this event happen. Bournes was founded in 1875 and the 5th generation of leadership are particularly keen as part of their sustainability goals to support initiatives that promote good physical and mental health and wellbeing. ‘Cricket Week’ is the perfect opportunity to get people excited about participating in sports, to keep active and feel part of a supportive and welcoming community.”

Rye Cricket Club looks forward to a successful season thanks to the support of local businesses.
