How ironic! A Wim Wenders film, Perfect Days, recently showing at the Kino depicts the life of a very diligent toilet cleaner in Tokyo. Here in Rye, the solution to the problem of keeping toilets clean is shut them down. Other forms of relief can be quite anti-social but what else is there to do when you have climbed to the top of the citadel and found there are no public toilets available?
The film, by the way, is wonderful and very thought-provoking but may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
