Smiley people needed

With less than three weeks until the start of the annual Rye International Jazz Festival 2024, there’s a still a chance for people to volunteer and support the event.

Festival organiser Ian Bowden says it’s an opportunity to be part of the well-regarded festival and hear some great music. “I need a few more people to help our volunteers make sure people are in the right places at the right time. You could be helping at the outdoor stage or looking after the road closures. No heavy lifting though! We already have a really positive team full of smiley positive people, but a few more would help give everyone more breaks and more chances to see some of the award winning acts.

“You’ll have a great time. We don’t book duff acts and whilst some of the acts might not be household names, people like Monte Alexander and Camilla George are outstanding musicians. Real quality.”

“So do you have what it takes? We need a love of music, enthusiasm, ability to commit and a desire to help and be part of a fun team making the festival happen.”

Volunteering at the Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival can be a rewarding experience. You can gain experience in event management and customer service skills. You meet new friends and have fun listening to the wide variety of musicians that perform. You have pleasure in knowing that you are an integral part of the festival, that you are supporting the local arts community and that your work helps to make the festival an enormous success, ensuring that it runs smoothly.

People who volunteer come back year after year and it is the highlight of their summer.
