Happy 20th birthday!

With just a few days left before the Rye Flower and Veg Show 2024 it might be time to take a wander around your garden or allotment and see if you might have any potential entries for this year’s show.

Apart from the regular veggie and flower entries you will find quite few quirky classes on our website and in the schedule. Why not consider a funny shaped vegetable or a really long carrot or runner bean? Or maybe one beautiful scented rose (class 33) or alternatively a massive sunflower head (class 39) which doesn’t have to be in bloom.

Summer haul

If, like us, this year has been a bit problematic in the growing department it might be time to think outside the box and bring along a collection of herbs (class 26) or one of your houseplants (class 41).

Cookery too offers an opportunity to compete with a varied selection of baked goods and preserves in classes from 43 – 52. There is even a class for birthday cupcakes to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Everyone can take a lucky picture so maybe that’s more to your taste and lastly the handicraft classes will be hotly contested again this year.

Brochures for this year’s show

If you can’t find anything at all then we’d love to see you anyway at the Rye Community Centre on Saturday August 31 at 2pm to view the colourful display of entries. You can have a cuppa and a bit of cake courtesy of Landgate WI and give yourself some inspiration for next year.

For all the information you can pick up a schedule from various spots around the town or look at our website for full details, rules and an entry form here.

We look forward to seeing you on the day!
