The Tuesday Painters Club of Rye closed their 2024 Exhibition, held at St. Mary’s Centre, Rye, on Saturday August 17. We welcomed almost 2,400 visitors during the 8 days it was open, and sales were strong. In fact, all things considered, we think it was our best ever show!

Many congratulations to all 47 Tuesday Painters who took part, some with us for the first time. Many members also formed part of the team of volunteers needed to make the event such a success, not only inside the venue, meeting and greeting and managing the sales desk, but also outside, offering information and promoting the event.

Asking visitors to choose their favourite painting is a great way of encouraging them to look more closely at all the artwork. Children at the exhibition are particularly encouraged to vote. Their dedication in deciding their choice is a joy to see.

If a painting is removed by the buyer at the point of sale, that painting then becomes unavailable for voting, thus obtaining fewer “public choice” votes…but this is more than compensated for by the special buzz an artist gets from making a sale.

There were just over 1500 votes cast for 180 paintings, the votes spread thinly over them all. We are delighted to show you the resulting favourite painting for 2024 as chosen by the public, Mark Fisher’s Landscape 8 in acrylic.
