Be it known that the 71st National Town Criers’ Championship will be held on Saturday the 12th October 2024 at the Gun Gardens, Rye.

Admission is Free.

Join Rye’s Town Crier’s Paul Goring and Arabella Ansar as they host, for only the second year, the 71st National Town Criers’ Championship in its new location of Rye.

Town criers from around the country take part in this spectacular event. Judging will be based on volume, diction, clarity and inflection. Round one takes place from 11.30am – 1pm, hearing a ‘home cry’ from each participant. The competition continues in the afternoon, from 2pm – 3.30pm, with a themed cry; after which the results will be announced.

The Championship will take place on Saturday 12th of October 2024 in the Rye Gun Gardens (TN31 7HH).

In the event of poor weather, the event will take place in nearby St Mary’s Church
