End to a very wet season

The end of season presentation of Rye and District Petanque League and a mini pairs competition was held at the New Inn Winchelsea on a rainy Tuesday evening in October.

This year winners of the Tuesday A league are New Inn A Winchelsea; runners-up are Rose & Crown A Beckley; Tuesday B League was won by Royal Oak Pett followed by Two Sawyers Pett has runners-up.

Top of the Wednesday league was The Plough Hastings and in second place came Rye Bay Caravan Park, Winchelsea Beach.

Outing players of the 2024 season were Carole Pankhurst for Two Sawyers, the only player to go all season without losing a game. Paul Turner Roy Oak and Ben Matthews of Cross Inn Staplecross, played all season only losing one game each.

At the end of each match teams play a fun game for a beer. The team that are the losers buy a beer for the winners, and the teams that enjoyed being treated to most beer were, New Inn A & B, Royal Oak and Plough A.

This year the Tuesday league endured one of the wettest Tuesday evening for many years, but the Wednesday league did not lose a single match because of rain.
