It’s that time of year again! Kickstart your festive celebrations with late night shopping in our beautiful town on Saturday, November 23.
Vicky from Simply Rye explains how the evening will unfold: “It will begin outside the George Hotel with the Marsh Choir singing festive songs from 4:45pm before a big switch on of the Christmas tree lights at 5pm with our brilliant local ‘special guest’ Peter Duncan (Blue Peter presenter and actor) and deputy town crier Arabella!
“After the switch on, spend your evening wandering round the pretty streets of Rye, popping into lots of the brilliant independent shops (open until 8pm) and enjoying food and drink at the town’s fabulous bars and restaurants.
“With free parking in all council run car parks (the Strand, Cinque Ports Street, Bedford Place, Lucknow Place and Gibbet Marsh) from 4pm, it is the perfect time to get started on your Christmas shopping and soak up some festive cheer.
“The event was so well supported by so many of you last year, we really can’t wait to do it all again!
“For more information in the lead up to the event, make sure you’re following Christmas in Rye (@christmas_in_rye) on Instagram and Facebook.
“This is the first of two Christmas in Rye events this year – the second will be the Christmas in Rye Festival on Saturday December 7.
“See you there and don’t forget to wear your Blue Peter badges!
Huge thanks to the following sponsors for helping to make this event happen this year: The George Hotel, Jempson’s, Care Signs, Merchant and Mills, Simply Rye, Hunter Jones and Ethel Loves Me.”
The last huge thank you goes to the organising team, Vicky and Fran from Simply Rye, Michael from Merchant and Mills, Mikey from Hunter Jones, Jo from Ethel Loves Me and Katie from the George, because a great deal of work goes on before the event and on the evening and Rye really sparkles on the late night shopping evening for everyone to enjoy.
