You may have already seen a flyer about the charity art auction being held at the Hub on Rye Hill on Friday, November 29 but for those who have not, read on. It plans to be a terrific evening, and one not to miss.
Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital Ltd with the help of artist Richard Adams, have gathered thirty lots which will go under the experienced hammer of Jeremy Sparks (Jeremy Sparks Associates, Antique & Fine Art Valuers). For a small auction, there is a considerable variety of media including painting, sketches, sculpture, ceramics and photography to appeal to all tastes. Particular fans of Richard Adams or Fred Cuming will not be disappointed! With Christmas just around the corner, there could be something in the catalogue which would make a wonderfully unique present. The charity is so grateful to all those who have supplied or donated their artwork with 25% from all sales being donated to help us continue to support the hospital at Rye. There will also be the opportunity to buy limited edition prints and other original pieces not included in the main auction. Again, 25% from these sales will be donated to the charity.

…and lovely to see that art from a handful of Tuesday Painters Club of Rye is represented. Fingers crossed lots of useful cash will be raised at this wonderful event.
Lorna Vahey’s picture here brought back happy memories of when my father went to the Rye Art show down at conduit Hill, and he sat looking at Lorna’s paintings and seeing so much in them, when a casual glance misses so much. He enjoyed looking at art, and taught me to look too.
