New building takes breath away

The first time I saw this “building” was walking from the station approach into Cinque Port Street, writes Joan Jones. It took my breath away, not in an appreciative way I may add. It would look good in Hastings or Ashford, but not Rye. It doesn’t blend with the rest of the town and, as it’s more or less the first building visitors see on progressing up through the town, it doesn’t give an impression of history which this town is well known for, People come here to savour the atmosphere of the past which, with careful planning, can be mixed with modern planning, but who ever passed this scheme has never been to Rye I guess. As to how it will weather, only time will tell.
