The new season starts

Following an uncertain future at the start of last year’s season, Rye Bowls Club has gone from strength to strength. Membership was increased significantly through 2024, with new members playing in matches, as their skills developed. Alongside the fun practice mornings, we introduced a popular evening session on Tuesdays. These will continue through this year’s playing season – April to September.

With Rother District Council (RDC) removing all funding and support for this long established local club, the members have stepped up and are undertaking self-management of the clubhouse and green on the Salts. We are soon to sign an agreement with RDC that will hopefully see the club continuing over many more years.

Last year’s open day attracted a lot of interest. In addition to many who were keen to play we signed up quite a few social supporters. Next month we shall be holding another open day to which we welcome all newcomers for a try this popular sport. Current members will be present to show you the ropes and to explain the changes to the club since we took over management.

We still need more new members, both playing and social supporters, so please come and join us.

See you on the green, on Sunday, April 27.
