The weather was glorious and the crowds were out in force at the fete this year. It was the first time that the caravan park and the village of Rye Harbour had collaborated on the event, and the new venue, the Caravan Park Green, was a great success. Many local societies had stalls and attracted a lot of attention, including the Friends of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and the Rye Bonfire Boys.
The local cookbook was on sale and there was a plant stall, Splat the Rat, Treasure Hunt, books and a very busy Cake and Pimms Stall. The coconut shy was a terrific hit and Martin, who organized it, said that he ran out of coconuts by 3:30 having started with 74!
Tower Forge Interiors kindly donated a leather vintage football from Gamages for the winner of the Shoot Out stand, run brilliantly by Ian, and two pirate boxes as prizes for the Treasure Hunt.
One of the highlights for the children was the visit by our local fire team and their appliance. The caravan park staff were really helpful and the races they ran for the children were a great hit.
A big thank you to all those who organised, helped on the day, donated gifts, ran stalls and baked cakes. So watch this space for an even bigger and better fete next year.
