Lamb House, the home of writers Henry James and EF Benson in Rye’s historic citadel, provided an elegant setting for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children’s (NSPCC) Christmas Fair on Wednesday December 2 and on sale were a whole range of individually crafted gifts and artwork. These included home-made cushions and candles, festive wines and champagne truffles, fashion accessories and Kentish lavender, as well as prints and paintings by Georgie Watson and others to decorate the home.

Generous raffle prizes had been given – a facial and blow-dry voucher by Rye Retreat, a £50 voucher by the Standard Inn, two full price tickets for the Kino and equally useful presents by nine other local businesses.

This is the second charity Christmas Fair organised at Lamb House by courtesy of the National Trust.
