Local people have once again been very generous in responding to the need for winter clothing and bedding for desperate refugees in Iraq. Janet Waddams has organised the collection and her army of volunteers have been in St Mary’s centre most days sorting and packing up boxes to send off.
The next challenge was how to transport the boxes from Rye to the central depot in Worthing, from where the supplies will leave for Iraq. Fortunately in Rye, if you ask for help, the chance are that you will be given it. Jon Crafer, director of local builder W Tollett, immediately agreed to make the delivery.
